The story of the Omega De Ville
Omega's quiet dress watch is where its boldest ideas went first: in 1999 a De Ville became the first watch to carry George Daniels' co-axial escapement in series production, and in 2007 a De Ville launched calibre 8500, the first Omega movement built around it.

- 1967 to 1980A line of its own
In 1967 the De Ville dropped Seamaster from its name and became a separate collection, simpler, slimmer and more varied. It quickly moved with fashion, adding chronographs on calibre 861 from 1968, and in the 1970s its designs won the Grand Prix Triumph of European Excellence and six Golden Roses at Baden-Baden.
- 1960 to 1967A dressier Seamaster
Omega introduced the De Ville name in 1960 as a slim, elegant offshoot of the Seamaster, pairing the monocoque case with dress-watch proportions. At the request of Norman Morris, Omega's general agent in the US, both names went on the dial. A 1964 Seamaster De Ville brought the first rectangular case, with its crown tucked at 9 o'clock.
